The prog rock formation from Ghent named "MakiMura" is looking for a logo and fitting corporate identity. MakiMura is a band which tries to merge different genres like metal, progressive metal, shoegaze and folk.
In this contest, it's your task to develop a logo and corporate identity which keeps these things into account:
- Try to go for modern an streamlined.
- Try to incorporate the dubble capital M's of MakiMura. Be careful that it doesn't start to look like a Metallica rip off.
- Don't try to create a typical metal logo.
- Try to go for a word-based logo. If you do want to incorporate images, then integrate the word MakiMura into the picture.
- Try to make a logo which looks good, both in black and white as in colour.
- Don't make it a cliché. If you want to get inspired by other band's logos, try to look at 70's bands and not at for example 80's bands.
- Try not to make a glam rock-ish logo, nor do we want an Iron maiden-ish logo and CID.
- Black Metal and any other unreadable typefaces are completely of the grid as well.
Within this competition, we'll also be adding a link to a moodboard, which we've created to check which colours we think would fit the vibe of the band. If you do want to make use of colour, you can use this moodboard for inspiration.

Beste MakiMura, Dit is een schets van het concept dat ik in gedachten had. Mochten jullie dit idee nice vinden zal ik hem in detail verder uitwerken.

De kleuren van de bovenste versie is niet precies mijn ding. Het onderste lijkt me wel leuk. Het lijkt nu wel of er “Makimmura” staat. Ik bespreek het met de rest!

Het was me niet gelukt om jullie moodboard te openen dus vandaar dat ik zelf wat kleuren heb gekozen. Kun je nog eens proberen om de link van het moodboard te sturen of wat foto's te sturen naar velthuisemile@gmail.com? Dan kan ik de kleurstijl daarop aanpassen :)
Ik zie wat je bedoelt met Makimmura. Het icoon in het midden moet niet gezien worden als een onderdeel van het woord. Persoonlijk als ik het lees zie ik de dubbele M in het midden niet als onderdeel van Maki Mura. Als ik van links naar rechts lees maak ik een duidelijke sprong van Maki naar Mura zonder dat ik het midden meereken in het woord. Ook zorgt het de icoon in het midden juist voor een sterke aandachtstrekker naar het logo die ook als losstaand icoon gebruikt kan worden.
Ik ben benieuwd wat de rest van de band ervan vindt!
